Trauma
Trauma, seen through Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), is like carrying a heavy burden from past experiences that still affect you today. It can show up as recurring memories, intense emotions, or feeling on edge and unsafe. In therapy, using the IFS model, we'll explore different parts of you that might be holding onto these painful memories or emotions.
We'll work together to help these parts heal and find a sense of safety. CPT helps in understanding how trauma has impacted your thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world. By exploring these beliefs and processing the trauma in a safe way, we aim to reduce its power over your present life. It's about giving these parts of yourself a chance to heal and find peace, while also working to change the way trauma influences your thoughts and feelings now. The goal is to help you regain a sense of control, safety, and move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
